Westminster Abbey is a living church, encapsulating over a thousand years of British history and an architectural treasure. The Abbey occupies a central place in the celebration of great events for the nation and attracts nearly two million worshippers and visitors each year. It is a place of outstanding national and international importance that demands coherent, considered and effective HR leadership.
Reporting to the Receiver General, you will take responsibility for the Human Resources function to meet the needs of the Abbey and its associated Organisations. This role will be strategic in character, supporting some 320 employees and 500 volunteers by ensuring policies, processes, organisational design and development structures are in line with the Abbey’s mission. You will promote social engagement and work with department heads to enhance communication and build a community that is relevant to today’s changing world.
You will have a proven record of HR leadership within a complex, service-orientated environment of note. You must be fully conversant with today’s employment and legislative law to ensure effective governance to promote organisational cohesiveness and objectivity. Furthermore, you must demonstrate an exceptional ability to influence and inform with excellent written and verbal skills, coupled with sound judgement that will enable you to inspire and motivate a small and dedicated team of professionals.
