Thomas Cook

Thomas Cook logoThomas Cook appointed Frank Meysman as Chairman in December 2011 after a challenging period for the business. One of his priorities was to review the effectiveness of the Board. Wickland Westcott was appointed to conduct this evaluation. The approach was designed to inform the structure of the Board in terms of the skills and experience required going forward and to make recommendations that would provide the right support to a new CEO.

Frank Meysman commented: “Wickland Westcott developed a thorough process to engage with current Board members, senior executives and external advisors. In doing so, they quickly gained a good understanding of the key issues from a number of reference points and helped me, as a recently appointed Chairman, evaluate the skills and experience gap on the Board. Their report focussed on the key issues and their professional delivery at our Board meeting promoted a high level debate with a number of agreed actions, which we will execute over the coming months”.
