Recruitment of a Non Executive Chairman

Sedex logoSedex, the not-for-profit  ethical sourcing data exchange is looking to become the provider of choice for those seeking to manage their global supply chains responsibly.  They retained Wickland Westcott to find a new Non-Executive Chair of the Board of Directors to set a new course which truly meets the needs of their broad membership base.  In particular the board were looking for a business leader of international stature with an understanding of trading and complex supply chain operations who could bring fresh insights. The appointee needed to offer a practical and energetic determination to shape and pursue Sedex’s mission, together with the tact and diplomacy to act as an ambassador for the organisation.

An extensive search was carried out targeting board level individuals with proven NED experience combined with a successful international supply chain track record.  Candidate identification activity included searching into a number of new sectors where the organisation was looking to expand, as well as global data platform companies with similar dynamics.  Six suitable candidates were interviewed informally and three subsequently progressed to the panel interview stage. The successful candidate was a well connected international trailblazer with a personal affinity for Sedex’s mission.  He brought a blend of skills and experience commanding immediate credibility with the membership base, having previously run a £2 billion European Division at one of Fortune’s most globally admired companies. His other achievements included heading up the management practice of a business school, acting as a non executive director for a several not-for-profit organisations and, being a Fellow of a European think tank.
