The Novo Nordisk Way

Novo NordiskHeadquartered in Denmark with the UK head office in Crawley, Novo Nordisk is a global healthcare company with 90 years of innovation and leadership in diabetes care. The company employs around 400 in UK and Ireland, with a global workforce of c 34,000 people. The company also holds leading positions within haemophilia care, growth hormone therapy and hormone replacement therapy.
Two of the guiding principles of the ‘Novo Nordisk Way’, are:

  • We offer opportunities for our people to realise their potential.

When market conditions and competitive pressures necessitated a redundancy exercise, Novo Nordisk asked us to suggest an innovative and flexible career transition service that would honour these principles. 
The programme was carefully created and implemented. One element concerned a particular department that needed to complete a mission-critical project, whilst potentially being impacted by the restructuring programme.  We arranged for onsite resource to deliver personalised 1:1 support, supplemented by team workshops.  The workshops covered not only the fundamentals of job search but also delivered master class modules in Social Media, and Running Your Own Business.  This support allowed people to address their own agendas whilst also meeting the needs of the business.

Another more recent exercise with Novo Nordisk involved supporting a group of geographically-dispersed sales professionals, and here we delivered a programme of workshops in a series of central locations, backed up by 1:1 telephone sessions.  This enabled consistency of service and ensured that those people living in more remote locations did not feel disadvantaged.
